MYTH

Keto is just another fad diet

FACT

The ketogenic diet was developed in 1921 at the Mayo Clinic to treat epilepsy. It has over 100 years of clinical use and 80+ randomised controlled trials. Atkins, paleo, and carnivore came after - keto came first.

MYTH

Eating fat makes you fat

FACT

Dietary fat does not cause body fat storage - insulin does. When carbohydrates are restricted below 20-50g, insulin drops to baseline and the body switches to burning stored fat for fuel. You literally cannot store fat without elevated insulin.

MYTH

Keto will raise your cholesterol and cause heart disease

FACT

Keto raises HDL (good cholesterol) by 12% and reduces triglycerides by 30-50%. LDL may rise but shifts to large buoyant particles (Pattern A) which are NOT associated with heart disease. Small dense LDL (Pattern B) - the dangerous kind - decreases on keto.

Your brain needs glucose to function

FACT

Keto causes muscle loss

FACT
